Recipe inspired by the Thomet family salmon burger recipe out of Kodiak Alaska, an Alaska commercial fishing family.
Servings: 4
Cook time: 40 mins
Ingredients:
- 1 sockeye salmon fillet or a portion per serving, (skin and pin bones removed) minced into 1/8" bits until resembling ground beef.
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Dash of salt and pepper
- 1 tablespoon Montreal Steak Seasoning
- 1 egg
- 1 cup of buttery crackers, crushed
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan
- Butter lettuce
- cheese of choice
- tomatoes sliced
- avocados sliced
- buns of choice
Directions:
In a mixing bowl, douse salmon with garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, pepper, Montreal Steak Seasoning, and Worcestershire sauce and gently combine with your hands. Mix in parmesan and egg. Then fold in the Ritz and form into evenly sized patties. Mould the patty into the exact shape you desire, and sculpt patty edges.
Heat your oiled pan over medium heat. Carefully, place salmon patties into pan using a flat spatula. To ensure browning, cook for 3-4 minutes without disturbing the patties. Carefully flip patties, add desired cheese, place a lid on the pan, and cook an additional 3-4 minutes. Remove patties from pan and serve on a bun with tomatoes, avocados, and condiments of choice.
